Dear outventurers!
Come along on this super chill, summery you-have-never-hiked-in-Denmark-until-you-tried-this-trip to The Army Road in Jutland. In spite of the most familiar Danish name, it was seldom used for military invasions but primarily as a trade road. The road has been extended to run all the way from Frederikshavn through the original northern point in Viborg on to Padborg and even continues into Germany down to Hamburg, where the road is known as Der Ochsenweg (The Ox Road).
MEETING PLACE AND TIME
If you want to join from the beginning, we will meet at Viborg Station on Monday morning-ish, but you are basically welcome to join or leave the trip at any stage - just orient yourself in the route map and make sure to be on one of the starting points any given morning. The trip officially ends in Vejen on Sunday afternoon/evening.
THE ROUTE
Do not worry, we will not walk the whole road! We will start in Viborg and walk to Vejen in seven stages, one for each day. If you need a resting day, you are welcome to take public transport to the next shelter. Check the route out here:

FOOD AND ACCOMODATION
There are (indoor) shelters along The Army Road, they cost 100 kroner pr. night and according to tradition, there is always room for one more. Bigger groups have to book, and we will try and let them know in advance if there is going to be a lot of us. Most of them also serve meals, or else we can buy food along the way in supermarkets and stores. This means you do not have to bring tents, kitchen supplies and a lot of food - only what you need for the day, some clothes plus a light sleeping bag + sheet.
NB: If you do not care to sleep in dorms, you are welcome to book your own accomodation. Just make sure to be at the starting point next morning according to the map.
PRICE AND SIGN UP
Sign up here, but the trip is free. You just arrange your own transport and bring money for food and accomodation. Please comment in your registration if you know you are not staying the whole week.
